
Such a phrase is the enemy of progress. I think this statement is an indication of the need to always think forward and look to the future, rather than to look back and try to avoid change and disruption. It raises the legitimate question of whether we do things the way we do because it’s the right thing to do, or whether we are doing this because we always have done it this way. After all, if you take that idea to its logical conclusion we would still be living in caves I guess one could also argue that the the phrase “Somebody should do something about it” is just as harmful because it is implicit in the phrase that the person speaking, for one, has no intention of doing anything about it. Let’s look to the future with hope, and resolve to do our part.
