There are exceptions, of course. After all, could the totally untrustworthy Bernie Madoff have been successful with his Ponzi scheme if he was not trusted by those he defrauded? But as a generalization, I think this is an accurate statement. I will leave it to you to decide whether this statement could be applied to the political chaos we have seen recently.
